Covergirl The Super Sizer Mascara Review

Mascaras are released at such a ridiculous rate, it’s quite impossible to keep up.  Each week, we are told a Mascara will transform our lives with one simple swipe.  So feeling overwhelmed when making a decision at the drugstore becomes understandable, if not acceptable.

This Summer, Covergirl by lashblash mascara released “THE SUPER SIZER”.

With so many available options, this immediately caught my attention with its hefty claim of creating 400% corner-to-corner volume with each use.

The mascara retails for $6.85 and comes in three shades: brown/black, black, and very black.

I purchased the black / brown shade, and am glad to report it is a deep, dark brown.  I would say the overall formula is initially very wet. If you do not prefer wet formulas, with time, that won’t be a problem.

THE SUPER SIZER mascara comes with a long, flexible, plastic wand.  I  personally do not like long skinny wands because I find them difficult to to use without making a mess.  In addition to being long and skinny, this mascara has very short separated bristles.  These short bristles allow you to get very close to the base of your lashes, but don’t do a very good job at separating your lashes.  I’ve found that in getting close to the base of your lashes, you are essentially tight lining your eyes.  Thus creating the appearance of more volume by darkening the base of your lashes.

This mascara has a similar application process to the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara.  It is important to follow the twirling technique while applying THE SUPER SIZER, to achieve the desired results.  I won’t lie in saying the twirl technique does take practice.

As you can see, the mascara does create the appearance of voluminous lashes.

Overall, I’m not really sold with this product.  I would categorize this mascara as being descent but not amazing.  I do like that THE SUPER SIZER creates a fuller appearance, but dislike that it makes my lashes appear short and clumpy.

The overall formula is amazing.  For being a non-water proof mascara, the formula does not smudge.  I only wish the mascara came with a different wand.

Have you guys tried THE SUPER SIZER?

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

It’s too bad that it wasn’t what you were expecting. But your lashes do look fuller!

Yea, they do look fuller. I do think this is a great mascara for the lower lashes or in conjunction with a lengthening mascara.
