Parian Spirit Brush Cleaner

As adults we’re bombarded with remedial tasks that are not only necessary if not obligatory to survive.  Until this week, I would have never considered cleaning my makeup brushes as affecting my survival.

I’ll be the first to admit I am extremely lazy when it comes to cleaning my brushes.  The task isn’t merely a chore but a production.   Just the thought of cleaning my brushes gets me in a rut.

But after reading the Yahoo article on Monday, calling my current state as “motivated” is an understatement.

If you haven’t read the article, I highly suggest reading it here on how dirty makeup brush almost killed a woman.

After reading that horrific story there should be no excuse for not cleaning your brushes; especially when there are several products in the market tailored for lazy galz like myself.

Enter Parian Spirit, a true trade secret.  This powerful cleaning agent not only cleanses, but conditions and disinfects your makeup brushes with every use.  Unlike shampoos, Parian Secret disinfects germs that may have grown on your brushes.  Remember germs grow even when they’re your brushes.

I have to mention that Parian Spirit is made from citrus spirits and food grade solvents and is an organic product.  It does have an orange scent, which dissipates rather quickly.  After cleaning your brushes, you may notice that a film is left behind, particularly on your larger brushes.  Personally, this does not bother me seeing as it is a product made with food grade solvent.

For a full “how-to” check out the Parian Spirit Website, but in all honesty, it really is as simple as spraying your brush and drying it on a paper towel.

Below I will show you an example on how well Parian Spirit cleans the dirty brushes pictured above.

This brush was dirty with cream concealer.

The spray and dry technique can also be used on larger brushes.

For a deeper clean, I’d recommend having the brush immersed in Parian Spirit for 1-5 minutes.  They sell a container with a mesh bottom, which assists in quickly removing pigment.

The brush above was cleaned by only using the “spray and dry” method.

It is important to note that Parian Spirit is a cleaning agent and will damage the brushes if used incorrectly.  Only immerse 1/4 of the brush.

Finally,  let me show you how well it cleans a brush that was used to apply black eyeshadow.

I’d definitely recommend using Parian Spirit to spot clean if you have a limited brush supply or if you are a MUA during a shoot.  It is also great for cleaning false lashes and tools.

Overall I am very pleased with Parian Spirit’s capability of cleaning and disinfecting my brushes.  Honestly, before reading this article I’d be inclined to using my dirty brushes. . .  but not anymore.
